Education and awareness generation
'Umeed' in partnership with the Australian High commission has in the past imparted elementary education to illiterate women. Today it is a self sustaining programme where through private sponsorship by 'Umeed' at least 500 women have become literate.
To end discrimination between genders 'Umeed' constantly runs awareness programmes in Punjab on teaching women about their lawful rights. From time to time, volunteers of Umeed have also done pioneering work in bringing about awareness against female foeticide and drug addiction among the youth.
